I screwed up... stranded in Cali...

So... this is an admission of guilt... I'm guilty of a pretty dumb but hilarious mistake. We recently flew from Florida to California to perform in a private show with some amazing people. Olivia and I arrived mid week and booked departing flights from LAX to Boston for Saturday, March 12th at 12:59am... OK... so now here's where it gets interesting....

12:59am on March 12th is Friday evening or very early morning Saturday... BUT I meant to book late night flights for after my show on Saturday... (flights should technically have been 12:59am March 13th) long story short... we were sleeping in a hotel while our plane was taking off thinking we had another 24 hours before departure. Come morning (March 12) and still oblivious we stopped at a cafe to prepare for the day and got hit with the reality... a "you've missed your flight" notification from jetBlue. Take a look at this moment in the video below...

So here's the situation... it's 11:30am... we have checked out of our hotel, we have 1 hour before I have to be at the venue in Laguna Beach, and our rental car has to be returned by 10pm... Beyond 10pm we have no way home, no where to stay and no way to get around... it's an OH SHIT moment for sure.

Other fights home are thousands of dollars and it just doesn't make sense... so it begs the question... what the heck do we do now?

We consider staying in a hotel for a night or two and possibly jump on a flight when prices go down... that isn't the case... spring break seems to be starting and travel is either sold out or wildly expensive... We start weighing in taking a train across the country or a good ole Greyhound bus (which would be cool) but tickets are sold out for several days.... SO... we are still shit out of luck.

With no solution in sight we start heading to the venue so we aren't late... We keep throwing ideas at each other and laughing at how insane this is. Halfway to the venue Liv says "we should just buy a car and drive home" with a half joking tone... I shrug it off with absolute denial of that being a possibility... but then it gets silent... a few minutes pass and we start actually considering it...

We arrive at the venue and said let's figure this out after the show... We spent three hours with amazing people memorializing and celebrating the life of Bobbie Ciaccio. Friends and family give speeches about her courageous and spontaneous sprit... listening to their words, Liv and I are getting more and more inspired to enjoy this situation we are in...

The event concludes and we hop in our rental... it's now 6:00pm... (four hours left before we need to return the rental car) I looked at Liv and said are we doing this?! She smiles and is already pulling up directions to a Chevrolet dealership....

Fast forward to 8:00pm... after working with the worlds greatest sales rep, Scott hooks us up with the EXACT car we were looking for... it was the LAST Chevy Equinox on the lot... in white, with roof racks and all we were looking for... Scott had us in and out within 90 minutes. (just in time to drive back to LAX to return the rental car)

So now we begin our journey... 3,000 miles of road between us and home. We will share some of this trip with you on social media and post another journal after the trip! You live ONCE, get uncomfortable and go do something crazy.

I'm releasing my first ever acoustic cover project... BUT ONLY to those who pre-order. Secure your pre-order now and receive all four songs on March 23rd!
